Rumors have recently surfaced that Drake is set to executive produce Aaliyah‘s posthumous album and that he will premiere his new song featuring the late songbird at Sunday’s (Aug. 5) OVO Music Festival in Toronto. In a recent interview with Power 105′s The Breakfast Club, Timbaland frowned at the news of a Drake-Aaliyah collaborative song.
Timbo says that if Drizzy wants to release an Aaliyah single, he must include himself and Missy Elliott on it since they were her closest friends. “I know they trying to drop some Aaliyah records, but if [Drake] do it, it should be with me and him, and Missy,” he says. “I don’t know what’s going on. The proper way to do that would be for me, him and Missy to be all on the record. For it to be on his record, that would not be right.”
It’s no secret that Drake has long admired Aaliyah, who passed away on Aug. 25, 2001. The Canadian rapper has a tattoo of the singer’s face on his back and wears an earpiece adorned with Aaliyah’s image on the device.
Back in April, Drake hinted that he was working on a posthumous Aaliyah album project but wouldn’t divulge any more info about it. “Just some special things. Just great things for music, period,” he told London DJ Tim Westwood. In March, a song that was rumored to be on the purported album called ‘Steady Ground‘ was leaked online.
If Drake is indeed planning to release a duet song featuring Aaliyah, it’s only right that he include Timbaland and Missy since they were her frequent collaborators. We are still scratching our heads wondering why Timbo is not (co-)executive producing the project in the first place. Maybe this single is a one-off that Drake wants to do personally since he’s such a big fan of Aaliyah. Who knows?
Chris Brown and Drake have been offered $1 million each to fight three rounds in a boxing ring in the name of charity, the New York Times reports. What's more, promoter Damon Feldman is hoping to pay Rhianna, whose links to both stars are well documented, the same amount to be the ring girl. “It’s more of a show than anything, and we can raise millions for charity,” Feldman said. “Instead of fighting in a bar, they could get paid to fight!""We would like to have Rihanna as a ring girl, as well, but if she doesn’t take our offer, we know she will be watching,” the prospective MC added. The fight, if it happens, would take place at a ring in Las Vegas in August, he says. Proceeds would go towards a charity for battered women. Feldman has already promoted celebrity fights featuring Jose Canseco, Michael Lohan, Rodney King, Hailey Glassman, Danny Bonaduce and others. The now-infamous Chris Brown-Drake fight went down in a New York City nightclub June 14. The club, W.i.P., has since been shut down by NYC. NBA star Tony Parker was among several people injured in the melee, which allegedly erupted because of bad blood over (what else) Rihanna.
Do you think they should do it for charity $1 million each to fight three rounds??
